Broken Top is an extinct, glacially eroded stratovolcano 20 miles (32 km) west of Bend in central Oregon. It is part of the extensive Cascade Range and southeast of the Three Sisters peaks within the Three Sisters Wilderness in the Willamette National Forest. It last erupted roughly 100,000 years ago with a volcanic crater of 0.8 km located at 9,000 feet altitude.

Permits for entry are distributed free from Memorial Day (31 May) to Halloween (31 October).

Stand-up paddle boarders enjoy the normally frozen glacial lake of Broken Top during the summer months once the water temperature drops to 34ºF and the lake unfreezes.
