Brian Lanahan

Brian K. Lanahan Ed.D. is a 46-year-old triathlete and open water swimmer from Charleston, South Carolina. He is also an Assistant Professor of Citizenship Education, College of Charleston and Fulbright Alumni, BiH 2008-2009.
Open Water Swimming Career Highlights
- On 4 June 2011, he completed a 20.1 km Swim Around Key West in Florida in 6 hours 45 minutes 9 seconds at the age of 35.
- On 23 September 2012, he completed a 19.3 Swim Around Charleston in South Carolina in 5 hours 24 minutes 51 seconds.
- He competed in the 2014 Tampa Bay Marathon Swim in Florida
- On 21 September 2014, he completed a 19.3 km Swim Around Charleston in South Carolina in 5 hours 32 minutes 5 seconds.
- On 11 October 2017, he completed a 54.5 km circumnavigation swim around James Island, South Carolina in 13 hours 21 minutes 53 seconds.
- He was the first person to complete a 16-mile circumnavigation swim around Folly Beach Island, South Carolina in 6 hours 33 minutes.
- He was nominated for the Yudovin Award for Most Adventurous Swim in 2017 by the Marathon Swimmers Forum.
- On 26-29 April 2022, he competed in the SCAR Swim, a 4-day stage swim in Arizona at the age of 46.
- On 26-29 April 2023, he will compete in the SCAR Swim Challenge, a 4-day stage swim in Arizona at the age of 47.
