Boguslaw Ogrodnik


Boguslaw Stanislaw Ogrodnik, born 1965, is a 56-year-old open water swimmer, lawyer and mountaineer from Wrocław, Poland who has completed four Oceans Seven channels to date.

- He achieved the Frosted Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming on 23 July 2017.
- He is a member of the exclusive Peak and Pond club.
- In 2006, he completed the Seven Summits of mountaineering including Mount Everest.
- He crossed the Lake Balaton.
- He swam from Alcatraz Island to Aquatic Park in San Francisco Bay.
- In 2011, he crossed the Gulf of Gdańsk (Bay of Gdańsk) from Hel to Gdynia in Poland.
- On 25 May 2013, he completed a 14.4 km crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar from Spain to Morocco in 5 hours 28 minutes at the age of 48 with his 15-year-old son Maciek Ogrodnik.
- He completed the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming:
- On 27 July 2014, he crossed the 33.8 km English Channel from England to France in 20 hours 33 minutes at the age of 49 under the auspices of the Channel Swimming & Piloting Federation.
- On 24 July 2017, he finished 12th at the 45.9 km 20 Bridges Manhattan Swim in New York City in 8 hours 13 minutes 49 seconds at the age of 52.
- On 6 September 2016, he completed a 32.4 km crossing of the Catalina Channel from Santa Catalina Island to the Southern California mainland in 13 hours 4 minutes 12 seconds at the age of 51 for his fourth Oceans Seven channel.
- In March 2015, he attempted crossing the Molokai Channel from Molokai Island to Oahu in Hawaii, but did not finish due to seasickness and currents.
- He coined the term Polish Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming.
- He competed in the 2016 Winter World Swimming Championships in Tyumen, Russia.
- He completed an Ice Mile on 20 February 2016 in Sobótka, Poland in 4.90°C water and 0.00°C air, swimming 1.02 miles in 35 minutes 49 seconds in an old quarry.
- On 10 January 2016, he completed an Ice Kilometer at the Aqua Sphere Ice Swimming Championships in Burghausen, Germany in 22:55 in 3.90°C water and 0.00°C air temperature.
- On 8 August 2016, he did not get to attempt a start of a Tsugaru Channel crossing in Japan due to an oncoming typhoon.
- On 23 July 2017, he completed the 28.5-mile (45.8 km) 20 Bridges Circumnavigation Swim of Manhattan in New York City to complete the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming with an 8 hour 13 minute 49 second circumnavigation swim of Manhattan Island at the age of 52.
- He completed the Frosted Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming with the circumnavigation swim of Manhattan Island.
- He created the Polish Ogrodnik Team.
- He finished 25th overall in the 50m freestyle race at the 2018 Ice Swimming Aqua Sphere German Open in Wöhrsee, Burghausen, Germany on 6 January 2018.
- On 19 August 2018, he completed a 21.2-mile crossing of Lake Tahoe in 24 hours 44 minutes 18 seconds to join the 24-hour Club.
- On 20 September 2018, he completed a 19.5 km crossing of the Tsugaru Channel from Honshu to Hokkaido in northern Japan in 12 hours 30 minutes.
- He completed the Frosted Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming on 23 July 2017.
- On 21 April 2019, he finished 16 miles of the 38.6 km Tampa Bay Marathon Swim in Florida.
- On 8 August 2021, he became an Iron Iceman.
- He completed an Ice Mile in 35 minutes 49 seconds on 20 February 2016 in Sobotka/Wroclaw, Poland 3.9°C water.
- He completed an Ironman Triathlon in 15 hours 42 minutes 23 seconds on 8 August 2021 in Gdynia, Poland at the age of 56.
- On 23 August 2008, he completed a 20 km crossing of the Gulf of Gdans between Hel and Gdynia in 8 hours 46 minutes, the first crossing in more than 40 years.
- He has completed several 11 km crossings of the Gulf of Puck since July 2011 with his son Maciek Ogrodnik and his daughter Marta Ogrodnik.
- He finished 3rd in a Polish national 12-hour swimming marathon in Otyliada on 1 March 2014.
- He completed a two-way crossing of the Strait of Messina on 5 October 2015 in 1 hour 45 minutes 7 seconds.
- He completed a crossing from Alcatraz Island to Aquatic Park in San Francisco Bay, California in 2015.
- He finished 2nd in the F age category in the International Winter Swimming Association World Cup series in 2015-2016.
- He was crowned Polish champion in winter swimming from 2014 to 2016 in different races.
Denivelation
He is the world record holder for denivelation at 9,011 meters as he scaled Mount Everest to 8,848 meters and dove to 163 meters in the Blue Hole in Sinai, Egypt.
