Body marks on competitive open water swimmer

noun - Body marks or body marking are black printed numbers (but sometimes letters) that are applied to the bodies of open water swimmers before a competition. The body marking are usually printed in black ink or used black tattoos that are applied to the back of the hands, shoulders and back.

The swimmers waited in line at the registration desk to get their body marking.
