Bob Fernald is an American open water swimmer from North Hampton, New Hampshire who has achieved the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming.
Open Water Swimming Career
- Fernald completed a crossing of the English Channel in 10 hours 50 minutes at the age of 47 on July 2014 despite Force 4/5 conditions all day
- Fernald completed the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim in 7 hours 15 minutes at the age of 48 on 24 June 2015
- Fernald completed a crossing of the Catalina Channel in 9 hours 12 minutes at the age of 49 on 25 August 2016
- Fernald completed a crossing of the Long Island Sound in 10 hours 20 minutes in 2013 as a charity swim
- Fernald completed the 2010 Boston Light Swim in 2 hours 52 minutes
- Fernald completed the 2011 Boston Light Swim
- Fernald completed the 2012 Boston Light Swim
- Fernald completed the 10-mile Kingdom Swim
- Fernald assists as a pilot in the 25-mile (40 km) In Search of Memphre between Vermont (USA) and Quebec (Canada)
Honours
- Fernald was named a 2014 MSF Global Marathon Swimming Award finalist in the Solo Swim of the Year category for his English Channel crossing of 21 miles (33.8 km) in 10 hours 50 minutes on 22 July 2014.
