Bill Thorley (or William Yan Thorley, born 3 September 2002) is a 19-year-old university student and Olympic marathon swimmer represents Hong Kong.

Open Water Swimming Career

• On 27 June 2022, he finished 38th in the 5 km open water swim at the 2022 FINA World Championships in Lake Lupa, Hungary at the age of 19.
• He finished fifth overall in The Five 5 km open water swimming event in Hong Kong held in November 2016.
• He finished fourth in The DWB, a 5 km open water swim in Hong Kong on 29 April 2017.
• He won the 10 km Guam Cocos Crossing in Guam on 28 May 2017.
• He won the 15 km Clean Half Extreme Marathon Swim in Hong Kong in 4 hours 42 seconds on 7 October 2017.
• He finished second at the 10 km Hong Kong Open Water Championships on 13 May 2018.
• He won the 5 km Liberty Wave Open Water Swim in Singapore on 22 July 2018.
• He finished third in the 10 km Sun Moon Lake Swim in Sun Moon Lake, Taiwan on 22 September 2018.
• He qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Olympic 10K Marathon Swim.
• He finished 20th at the World Beach Games 5 km open water race on 13 October 2019.
• He competed in the 2019 FINA World Championships 5 km in South Korea finishing in 53:56.20 on 13 July 2019.
• He competed in the 2019 FINA/CNSG Marathon Swim World Series 10 km finishing in 1:58:25.84 on 29 September 2019.
• He competed in the 2019 FINA World Championships 5 km mixed relay in South Korea on 18 July 2019.
• He finished 26th in the 10 km in 2:03:11.70 at the age of 18 at the FINA Olympic Marathon Swim Qualifier held in Setubal Bay, Portugal on 20 June 2021.
• He finished 22nd in the 10 km in 1:58:25.84 at the age of 17 at the FINA/CNSG Marathon Swim World Series in China on 29 September 2019.
• He finished 11th in the 10 km in 1:58:43.00 at the age of 17 at the FINA/CNSG Marathon Swim World Series in Taiwan on 7 September 2019.
• He competed in the 5 km Mixed Team relay at the age of 16 at the 18th FINA World Championships in South Korea on 18 July 2019.
• He finished 61 Men 10 km in 1:59:36.80 at the age of 16 at the 18th FINA World Championships in South Korea on 16/07/2019.
• He finished 37th in the 5 km in 53:56.20 at the age of 16 at the 18th FINA World Championships in South Korea on 13 July 2019.
• On 5 August 2021, he finished 22nd in the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim in Odaiba Marine Park in Tokyo Bay at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games at the age of 18.
• On 26 June 2022, he will participate in the mixed 6 km relay in Lake Lupa, Hungary at the 2022 FINA World Championships.
