Battery Rocks
Created By Kate Robarts for Outdoor Swimming Society
A whole host of people of different ages swim from Battery Rocks in Penzance every day. It's not a new place to swim. I just noticed it's not on this map. There are steps into the water, located around the back of the Jubilee Lido. High tide is the best swim time because of the rocks themselves. The area is lovely for a dip or social swim but also great for the swim to and from Newlyn Harbour wall. As long as it's not too high a tide, it's possible to get out onto the beach between the rocks and Newlyn Harbour if you get tired. It's about 1300m to the harbour wall so there and back is a good route for endurance training, as many times as you like. Clothes and towels may be left on the concrete walkway around the back of the lido. Parking is either on the road or in one of the many carparks. There is one opposite the lido. Path around the outside of the lido is on the left of the lido itself.
