Barbara Lake is part of the Oued Barbara facility in the northwest area of Tunisia, near the Algerian frontier that collects and stores surplus water from the Barbara river for irrigation purposes.

On 20 January 2018, Al Watanyia TV 1 broadcast Nejib Belhedi's solo swim of 1 hour 45 minutes covering 3 km in 1ºC water in Barbara Dam, Tunisia observed by the Governor of Jandouba, Tunisia.
