International Bangla Channel Marathon Swim


The International Bangla Channel Marathon Swim (or the Fortune Bangla Channel Swimming) stretches 16.1 km from mainland Bangladesh (Teknaf) to St. Martin's Island across The Bangla Channel and is located in the Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh. The 2018 event is call Fortune Bangla Channel Swimming 2018 - 13th Edition.
Contents
History
- The course was created by Hamidul Haque in 2006.
- The course was pioneered by Lipton Sarker, Fazlul Kabir Sina and Salman Saeed on 14 January 2006.
- The current race is organized by Fazlul Kabir Sina and the Everest Academy. The next swim is held on 19 March 2018.
Course
Swimmers can complete a 16.1 km one-way swim or a 32.2 km double-crossing from mainland Bangladesh (Teknaf) to St. Martin's Island located in the Bay of Bengal. The course is called The Bangla Channel. It also serves as a charity event for the Centre for Injury Prevention and Research in Bangladesh.
Extreme Bangla, Professional's System, and North Alpine Club Bangladesh co-organized the swimming marathon in 2012. Extreme Bangla and Shwaroz Adventure co-organize the 2018 event.
