Requirements

Each swimmer must raise a minimum of US$500 by event day. Each team must have at least 5 members and raise a minimum of US$3,000.

Swimmers & Teams

A person may elect to swim alone, or be part of a team. Many colleagues will form corporate teams, or teams may be formed in honor or memory of a loved one. All teams are inspirational and rewarding for those involved with Swim Across America.

Venue

The swim will be held in the Redhouse Cove at the beautiful Waltjen Shedlick Farm at 5101 Mountain Road, Pasadena, Maryland 21122. It is a gorgeous cove with flat water making it very swimmer friendly.

Course

The swim course will be a 1-mile loop where swimmers have the option of a 1- or 3-mile swim. 3-mile swimmers will exit the water after each loop, take a brief jog on the sand and re-enter the course. Swimmers who choose to swim 3 miles must complete the first 2 loops by 9:40 am to re-enter the course to complete the final mile. This swim is non-competitive, though timing chips will be provided. It is mandatory that all swimmers have the timing chip on their ankle prior to entering the start pen.

Wetsuits

Wetsuits are optional, but strongly encouraged. Sponsor XTERRA Wetsuits is offering a discount on rentals and sales of some of their products.

Donations

All donations are tax-deductible. Proceeds from the Baltimore Swim will be donated to cancer research, prevention and treatment at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins. Donors may support the swimmer of their choice by making an online donation or may send a check, payable to Swim Across America to Kingspan N.A., Attn: Kellie McDaniel, 7510 Montevideo Road, Jessup, Maryland 20794.
