Antonio Caballero of La Paz, Mexico is the co-captain of Sueño 88 together with Vito Bialla and Alejandro Abarroa. He will escort the 6 swimmers with the MARIANA, a 52' twin diesel cruiser. His goal is to safely escort Sueño 88 from Tecolote beach on the La Paz peninsula with a destination of the Topolobombo buoy on the beach on the mainland of Mexico. The 88 nautical mile crossing of the Sea of Cortez is estimated to take a maximum of 50 hours.

Sueño 88

Sueño 88 is a group of 6 open water swimmers who will attempt to swim 88 nautical miles (101 miles of 163 km) across the Sea of Cortez from the Baja California peninsula to the mainland of Mexico. Sueño 88 is an initiative by the Night Train Swimmers and Swim4Good, two organizations that use swimming as a vehicle to raise money for non-profit organizations. Sueño 88's goal is to raise US$100,000 to benefit Worldreader whose mission is to eradicate illiteracy by delivering the largest culturally relevant library to the world’s poorest people—digitally and inexpensively.
