Angela Maurer
Angela Maurer (born 26 July 1975) is a professional marathon swimmer from Wiesbaden, Germany where she was born. She swims for the SSV Undine 08 e.V. Mainz swimming club, and trains together with Dimitri Colupaev and Marc-Oliver Stein under Nikolai Evseev in Mainz. She is coached by her partner Nikolai Evseev with whom she has a child.

Open Water Swimming Career
- She finished a close fourth at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim, missing a bronze medal by 0.9 seconds.
- She was named the 2009 LEN Open Water Swimmer of the Year.
- She won the 25 km marathon swim at the 2009 FINA World Championships in Rome, Italy
- She was inducted as an Honour Swimmer in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame in 2009.
- She won the FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup series as the 2011 overall champion.
- She was nominated for the 2011 World Open Water Swimming Woman of the Year.
- She participated in the 2011 FINA World Championships in in Shanghai, China where she qualified for the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim at the 2012 London Olympics.
- She finished 5th in the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
- She has won a total of 8 FINA World Championships medals.
- She competes on the FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup and theFINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix professional circuits.
- She won 8 German national titles in 5 km, 10 km, and 25 km distances.
- She won 2 European Open Water Swimming titles in the 10 km and 25 km distances.
- She won a bronze medal in the 10 km marathon swim at the 2014 FINA World Championships in Barcelona, Spain.
- At the age of 38, she won the 15 km FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix professional marathon swim in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
- In July 2016, she finished eighth in the Traversée internationale du lac St-Jean FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup in Lac St-Jean, Canada at the age of 41.
- She finished 22nd in the 2018 FINA/HOSA Marathon Swim World Series race in Doha, Qatar on 16 March 2018 at the age of 42.
- She won the women's division and was 6th overall at the 24th Traversée Internationale du lac Memphrémagog in Canada on 4 August 2002 finishing in 8 hours 59 minutes 46 seconds.
- On 31 August 2019, she won the 20 km FINA UltraMarathon Swim Series in Novi, Croatia in 4:28:10 at the age of 44.
- On 10 September 2019, she won the 16 km Faros Maratón in Hvar Island, Croatia in 3:39:18 at the age of 44.
Professional Career
She studied at police technical college since 2006 and is a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate's state elite sports training program.
Olympic Career
At the 2008 Beijing Olympics she finished a close fourth place in the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim, only a fraction of a second behind the bronze medalist Cassie Patten. At the 2012 London Olympic Games, she finished a close fifth in the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim, just behind Keri-Anne Payne and bronze medalist Martina Grimaldi.
2011 FINA World Championships
Maurer placed 8th (2:02:15.1) in the 2011 FINA World Championships in the 10K in Shanghai, China which qualified her for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
