Andrew Ress is a pool and open water swimmer from Wales who completed a solo crossing of the English Channel. He represented the Great Britain Deaf Swimming team in the 1990s.

Open Water Swimming Highlights

  • At the age of 48, Ress completed a 33.5 km crossing of the English Channel from England to France in 15 hours 14 minutes, escorted by Andy King, on 17 July 2016 while fighting Force 6 winds and raising £6,000 for the Great Britain Deaf Swimming team that will help athletes compete at the 2017 Deaflympics in Samsun, Turkey. He was the first known deaf Welsh swimmer to cross the English Channel and second deaf swimmer worldwide after Taranath Narayan Shenoy from India crossed in 1984.
