Andrea Marcato (born 1982) is an Italian open water swimmer and ultra-distance runner living in Zurich, Switzerland. He is a member of the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team, participant in the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run and a long time vegetarian.
Open Water Swimming Career
- On 6 August 2017, he finished third in the bioprene division of the 30th edition Sri Chinmoy Marathon Swim (International Self-Transcendence Marathon-Schwimmen) in Switzerland's Lake Zürich in 7 hours 43 minutes.
- On 5 August 2018, he finished third in main category of the bioprene division of the 31st edition Sri Chinmoy Marathon Swim (International Self-Transcendence Marathon-Schwimmen) in Switzerland's Lake Zürich in a time of 8h 45m.
- On 4 August 2019, he finished 9th in main category of the bioprene division of the 32nd edition Sri Chinmoy Marathon Swim (International Self-Transcendence Marathon-Schwimmen) in Switzerland's Lake Zürich in a time of 8h 36m 54s
- On 8 August 2021, he finished third men's main category of the bioprene division in the 33rd edition of the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Swim (International Self-Transcendence Marathon-Schwimmen) in Switzerland's Lake Zürich in 10 h 03 in unusually chilly +/-18 °C water.
- On 7 August 2022, he finished second (by 11 seconds!) in the men's main category, bioprene division, in the 34rd edition of the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Swim (International Self-Transcendence Marathon-Schwimmen) in Switzerland's Lake Zürich in 8h 58m 07s in comfortable 25°C water.
Ultra Distance Running
- He placed 1st and set up new Italian records in the 3100 Mile Self-Transcendence foot race Oct/Nov. 2020 in Salzburg, organised by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team under Corona restrictions. His time: 43 days 12h 07 min.
- He won the 3100 Mile Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence foot race again in 2021, with a time of 42 days 17h 38 min.
