Cobh (Irish: an Cóbh), known from 1849 until 1920 as Queenstown, is a tourist seaport town on the south coast of County Cork, Ireland. Cobh is on the south side of Great Island in Cork Harbour and is home to Ireland's only dedicated cruise terminal. Tourism in the area draws on the maritime and emigration legacy of the town - including its association with the RMS Titanic. Facing the town are Spike Island and Haulbowline Island. On a high point in the town stands the cathedral church of the diocese of Cloyne - St Colman's - which is one of the tallest buildings in Ireland.

Open Water Swimming

• Eilís Burns completed the earliest marathon swim recorded in County Cork, a 13 km (8.1-mile) swim from Blackrock Village to Cobh in 1973.
• Lisa Cummins completed the 13 km (8.1-mile) Blackrock Village to Cobh swim in 2008.
• The Escape from Spike Island swim in Cobh Harbour is a 1.8 km swim from Spike Island to Cobh Harbour on the mainland of Ireland. It is part of the Triple Crown of Prison Island Swims, otherwise known as Triple Break, a trio of ocean swims where swimmers challenge themselves to escape by swimming from some of the world's most well-known island prisons: Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay, California, Robben Island near Cape Town, South Africa, and Spike Island in Cobh Harbour, Ireland.
