Mille Corson

Mille Corson (Amelia Gade Corson) was a New York-based open water swimmer prominent in the early 20th century who was coached by trainer Bill Kellingley. She became the second American to successfully cross the English Channel in 1926, three weeks after Gertrude Ederle became the first. Her time was 50 minutes slower than Ederle.

At the age of 22, on 26 September 1921, she became the second woman (3rd swimmer) to successfully swim around Manhattan Island. Her time was 15 hours 57 minutes.
