Alois Anderle

Alois Anderle (born 1869 in Vienna, Wien, Austria and died in 1953 in Long Island, New York, USA) was an Austrian Olympic open water swimmer who competed in the 1909 Boston Lighthouse Marathon Swim. He also competed in 2 events at the 1900 Paris Olympic Games: the 4000m event that he did not finish and the Underwater Swimming event that he placed 13th.

In the 1909 Boston Light Swim, Anderle started out with 8 other marathon swimmers and completed the last half mile in a severe thunderstorm with a time of 5 hours 38 minutes. But he was later disqualified for walking across an exposed sandbar at Nix's Crag.
