Alison Cardwell
Alison Cardwell is an Irish open water swimmer who received the 2013 Irish Long Distance Swimming Association's ILDSA Ted Keenan Shield for Ulster Open Water Swimmer of the Year.
Open Water Swimming Career
In 2013, Cardwell completed an ice mile at Camlough Lake in 1ºC (33.8ºF) water, was the fourth female in the Warrior of the Sea 6 km swim, and completed the Rostrevor to Warrenpoint swim 3.5 km, the Clogherhead Swim, and the Drogheda 2.5 km swim. She was the second Irish female in the ILDSA 25 km Lough Erne swim, and completed the Lord and Lady Swim CLWF in 43 minutes 19 seconds and was the fourth female in the Great Wicklow Swim 10 km.
Eleven Feet
Cardwell is a member of Eleven Feet, a relay team that completed a 21-mile relay crossing of the North Channel between Northern Ireland and Scotland in 12 hours 52 minutes, together with Jacqueline Galway, David Burke, Adrian Poucher, Barry Patterson, and John McElroy under the leadership of Pádraig Mallon, and pilots Brian Meharg and Mervyn Kinny under the auspices of the Irish Long Distance Swimming Association, together with support crew Chris Cooke, Milo McCourt, and Eoghan Jones.
Ice Swimming Career
Cardwell completed an ice mile on 10 February 2013 in 2.90°C water + 0.00°C air for 1.00 mile in 32:00.
