Alaska is the 50th state of the United States of America. Alaska is called The Last Frontier because of its opportunities and many lightly settled regions, and the Land of the Midnight Sun because the sun shines nearly around the clock during Alaskan summers.
Open Water Swimming
Alaska is the site of open water swimming events including the 14 km (8.2-mile) Pennock Island Challenge in Ketchikan, the 5 km Change Your Latitude race in Sitka, the Chena Splash Open Water 1K and 5K Lake Swim in Fairbanks, and Bob's 1K and the 10 km Sitka Sound Adventure Swim that are part of the Alaska Open Water Series.
