noun - A half century swim is 50 hundreds (or 50 x 100s), a pool swimming distance freestyle interval set that is a tradition among competitive pool swimmers and marathon swimmers, traditionally done sometime between Black Wednesday and New Year's Day. A half century swim or a total of 5,000m or 5,000 yards, is conducted in a pool, either on one consistent interval or performed at different intervals.
