The 12 miles in 12 hours event is an open water swimming competition among soloists who swim a mile on the hour every hour for 12 hours in the 3-part Xtreme Swim Series, an open water swimming competition and series held in the Eastern Cape province in South Africa, organized by Brenton Williams.

  • Johannesburg on 28 February 2015 in Germiston Lake
  • Jeffreys Bay on 21 March 2015 in Marina Martinique
  • Durban on 28 March 2015 at the Durban Ski Boat Club

Events

Format

  • Solo: 12 miles in 12 hours - soloists swim a mile on the hour every hour for 12 hours
  • Solo: 6 miles in 12 hours - soloist swims every alternate mile of the 12-mile challenge
  • 2-person relay: 12 miles in 12 hours - each member must swim 3 consecutive miles before alternating
  • 3-person relay: 12 miles in 12 hours - each member must swim 2 consecutive miles before alternating
  • 1-mile solo: standard solo swim format
  • 2-mile solo: standard solo swim format
