noun - One hundred one hundreds (100 x 100s) is a pool swimming distance freestyle interval set that is a tradition among competitive pool swimmers, channel swimmers, and marathon swimmers. One hundred swims of 100 yards or 100 meters each, or a total of 10,000m or 10,000 yards, is conducted in a pool, either on one consistent interval or performed at different intervals. The set is usually done during the year-end training period by competitive age-group swimmers, collegiate teams and adult masters swimmers.

Usage

The team of adult swimmers challenged themselves to 100 x 100s at a 1:30 pace, but the top swimmers in the world can do 100 x 100s at 1:00 in a 25-yard pool.

Triple Crown pool swimming sets

The Triple Crown is a 3-part pool swimming series developed by Coach Michael Collins of the Nova Masters Swim Team. It is a version of the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming and century swims and is conducted during the American holiday season in November, December and January. The three swims are as follows:

  • Part 1 includes 50 swims on a 1:40 interval for a total swimming time of 1 hour 24 minutes total time
  • Part 2 includes 75 swims on a 1:30 interval for a total swimming time of 1 hour 53 minutes total time
  • Part 3 includes 100 swims on a 1:20 interval for a total swimming time of 2 hours 14 minutes
