Swim Miami presented by Nike is an annual multi-race open water swimming competition in Miami, Florida, U.S.A. organized by Jonathan Strauss that includes a 800m, Miami Mile, 5 km and 10 km races on Watson Island. The event, annually one of America's Top 100 Open Water Swims and the World's Top 100 Open Water Swims, is owned and operated by the H2O’s Foundation, a foundation dedicated to eradicating drowning in south Florida. The Swim Series is a 3-race open water swimming series launched by Jonathan Strauss. The Swim Series offers three unique courses and conditions to challenge novice to advanced swimmers.

Events[edit]

1. Swim Fort Lauderdale: The first stop is during the winter to provide a rough and cold water experience [cancelled for 2019].
2. Swim Miami: The original calm water experience like the Olympics and an opportunity for every kind of swimmer to try open water swimming. It includes 800m, The Miami Mile,5 km and 10 km races, K-9 Krawl World Championships, a human/dog duathlon where owner and dog swim 200 yards and run 400 yards.
3. Swim Miami Beach: The wild card 1-mile race in North Beach, Miami at the end of the season in December.

Purpose[edit]

The Swim Series is an effort to grow the sport of open water swimming in South Florida and create a movement and awareness about drowning prevention and eradication.
