Tanya Desnoyers is a Canadian clinical nurse and pool and open water swimmer from Québec. Her mother is swimming coach Sonya Potvin and grandfather is International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame Honor Coach Gilles Potvin.

Open Water Swimming[edit]

  • She became the youngest individual at the age of 12 to swim the Saguenay 42 km course on 6 August 2005, finishing in 6 hours 3 minutes in water that dropped to 11.1°C.
  • She became the youngest individual at the age of 13 to attempt a swim across lac St-Jean on 5 August 2006 along the original 26 km Vauvert – Roberval course, crossing of the lake with a nasty front wind that occasionally would stop her. The swim was completed in 10 hours 24 minutes 24 seconds.
