Swimming with Hero

Swimming with Hero is a book written by Dr. Robert Christopher Stockdale, the long-time physician to the Channel Swimming Association who swam the English Channel three times: England-to-France in 17 hours 30 minutes in 1977 and in 15 hours 56 minutes in 1981, and France-to-England in 14 hours 50 minutes in 1984.

Dr. Stockdale was recognised with an MBE for his long-term services to charitable causes. Dr. Stockdale has raised £300,000 for charity over 33 years, largely through marathon swims including the English Channel and one 31-hour swim across Lake Garda as a member of the 24-hour club. He is also a member of the 24-hour Club.
