Suez Canal

The Suez Canal is an artificial sea-level waterway in Egypt, connecting the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea through the Isthmus of Suez. It was constructed by the Suez Canal Company between 1859 and 1869.
Open Water Swimming
Professional marathon swims were held in the Suez Canal (Port Saed, Ismailia, Damiatta and Alexandria) in the 1960s and 1970s under the International Long Distance Swimming Federation sanction.
