Spetses Marathon

The Spetses Marathon (Spetses mini Marathon) is a 1.5 km and 3 km and 5 km sea swim between the island of Costa and Spetses in Greece in October. It is part of the 2019 Open Water World Tour.

Spetses mini Marathon[edit]

The Spetses mini Marathon is the largest multi-sport event in Greece since 2011, including more than 10,000 participants, held in the picturesque island of Spetses, only 2.5 away hours from Athens and El. Venizelos Airport. It includes two sea swims.

Swim Distances[edit]

5 km with a start and iinish at Poseidonion Square Beach 3 km with a start at Kosta beach and a finish at Poseidonion

3 km Course[edit]

The 3 km course is from Spetses to Kosta. The start of the race will be on the Kosta Beach (near the Drouzas tavern) and the finish on the beach near the Poseidonion Grand Hotel. Participants will be transferred to Kosta, and swim back to Spetses. During this course, swimmers are not allowed to wear wetsuits and those that will have stated so, will be allowed to wear flippers (but will be excluded from classification).

5 km Course[edit]

The 5 km course is from Spetses to Kosta to Spetses. Participants will start from the Poseidonion square pier, will reach Kosta and then, swim back to Spetses. During this course, swimmers are not allowed to wear flippers or wet suit.

Open Water Swimming Camp[edit]

Chris Sifleet and Greek triathlon coach Armandos Linardos offer stroke analysis and nutritional advice for a week-long clinic on Spetses before the Spetses Marathon Swim.

Open Water World Tour[edit]

The Spetses Mini Marathon is part of the Open Water World Tour (OWWT), an open water swimming series in Greece, the United States, Spain, Italy, Mexico and Kazakhstan.
