Sfax (Arabic: صفاقس‎) is a city in Tunisia, located 270 km (170 mi) southeast of Tunis. The city, founded in AD 849 on the ruins of Taparura and Thaenae, is the capital of the Sfax Governorate and a Mediterranean port.

Nejib Belhedi completed his boat pulling solo swim of the 1014-ton ship a distance of 425 meters in 25 minutes on 22 May 2017in Tunisia's Sfax Port, called the Iron Swim1000.
