verb - Self-screening is to apply sunscreen, lanolin or ointments on your own body with your own hands while floating in the water in order to avoid breaking any marathon swimming or channel swimming rules that require no other person to touch the swimmer in the water.

Usage

The marathon swimmer needed to do a self-screening due to the tropical heat.
