Seconds are required at Ice Sevens swims around the world, governed and ratified by the International Ice Swimming Association

noun - A second is a knowledgeable teammate or friend in the cold water swimming world who observes a cold water swimmer or ice swimmer during a competition in order to monitor the swimmer's condition, help the swimmer recover, and alert the safety divers in case a rescue must be made.


The seconds are positioned at the end of each lane at the Ice Swimming Championships.
