Salem Harbor Open Water Swim (or the Swim & Fin, Race for Salem Sound) in Salem Sound in Massachusetts. Age group winners receive ocean-themed medals. The 2017 race was the 12th annual event. The Race for Salem Sound is held in the Salem Sound in Salem, Massachusetts and served as the 2011 New England Open Water Championship Races at Salem Sound Coastwatch's annual Swim & Fin event. More than 200 swimmers from the ages of 8 to 68 participate in the annual open water swimming competition that included 500m, 1-mile and 5 km races.

Charity Swim[edit]

All proceeds from the charity swim benefits Salem Sound Coastwatch, a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to keep coastal waters clean and safe.

  • The 5 km race consists of 3 laps around a rectangular course with an in-water start.
  • The 1-mile race consists of 1 lap around a rectangular course with an in-water start.
  • The 500 meter race is a triangular course with a beach start.
