Ricardo Augusto Dagua

From Openwaterpedia

Ricardo Augusto Dagua is a Brazilian open water swimmer and surfer from Camburi in the state of São Paulo.

Alcatrazes 40k[edit]

He attempted a 40 km swim three times to the island of Alcatrazes in 2016, 2017 and 2018 before he finally completed the swim in 15 hours 30 minutes.

Inspiration[edit]

On his last surfing trip to Fiji, his boat broke. He was too scared to wait for help that would probably never come so he decided to swim save himself. He swam for more than 4 hours without water or food and lived to tell his story. That self-save was a watershed moment for him when he started to do open water swimming. Swimming to Alcatrazes became his great physical and mental challenge.
