2020 World Open Water Swimming Offering of the Year[edit]

Make the Ocean Your Pool is an initiative of Orca that was nominated for the 2020 WOWSA Awards in the World Open Water Swimming Offering of the Year category with the following nomination: When pools were shut down globally due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Orca created an opportunity to help swimmers stay sane and fit. Orca, a wetsuit brand owned by Orbea, created the online program Make The Ocean Your Pool. Following its long line of offering creative solutions like its Best Places To Swim online information service, Make The Ocean Your Pool is a new service that encourages and educates pool swimmers and those who are not yet passionate open water people to have the information and confidence to venture beyond the shorelines of oceans, seas, lakes, rivers and bays near them. Orca offered discounts for both individual consumers and teams. For generating interest and a sense of community around the open water, for jumping into the vacuum created due to pool closures around the world and eliminating barriers to continue swimming, and for creating an informational newsletter and public support encouragement of open water swimming combined with product discounts, Make The Ocean Your Pool by Orca is a worthy nominee for the 2020 World Open Water Swimming Offering of the Year.

Best Places to Swim is Orca's new service that enables the ability for the global community for open water swimmers and triathletes to can upload and describe their favorite open water courses. Athletes can both teach and share their favorite courses as well as learn and download information from other courses that swimmers have recommended. The information includes the difficulty of the course (easy, medium, hard), services available (restrooms, locker rooms, showers, bar, restaurant), safety conditions to be aware of (rocks, marine life, currents), and ample room to describe the courses as much detail as necessary. For its core business of sports apparel to social media offerings, for its global outlook from Down Under to across the world's continents, and for an easy-to-use, convenient service, Best Places to Swim by Orca is a worthy nominee for the 2015 World Open Water Swimming Offering of the Year.
