Nicky Farrugia is an open water swimmer and triathlete from Malta whose nickname is the Maltese Ironman.
Open Water Swimming
- He was the first person to complete a solo open water swim from Sicily, Italy to the island of Gozo in the Malta archipelago in 1985 in 30 hours 17 minutes.
- He completed a 33.5 km crossing of the English Channel in 12 hours 40 minutes in 1989.
- He was crowned as the Sportsman Of The Year in 1989.
- He was inducted in the Maltese Olympic Committee’s Hall of Fame.
