Melodee L. Nugent is a 52-year-old American pool and open water swimmer and Biostatistician of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Current Positions in Swimming Career

  • USMS Wisconsin Fitness Chair/Coordinator (2010 to present)
    • Promote participation in fitness and postal events
    • Create or coordinate local area fitness activities for Wisconsin USMS
    • Promote the USMS Go The Distance event
    • Host Wisconsin Water Warriors event
    • Write articles on local long distance pool accomplishments and training for Wisconsin USMS Newsletter
    • Represented one of the Wisconsin Master Swimmers at the USMS National Meeting, September 2017
  • She swam 1,620 miles (2,607 km) in the Go The Distance USMS competition, the top woman

Data Analyst

From May 2014, Nugent has helped race directors by creating surveys and analyzing results about their event. The analyses offers race director information about their events, which can include information on the registration process, food/beverages provided, appeal of the goodies provided and issues regarding safety.

Infinit-sponsored Athlete

Nugent represents Infinit Nutrition, custom-blended nutrition solutions, between October 2014 to September 2015). She promoted their nutrition drinks for endurance athletes, differentiated by the fact that they are custom-blended for the specific needs of the individual.

FINIS Product Tester

From March 2016 to the present, Nugent uses the FINIS MP3 player since 2005, testing the device and keeping track of the usage and issues.

U.S. Masters Swimming All American for Long Distance Swimming

In February 2015, Nugent was honored to be called a US Masters Swimming All American for Long Distance Swimming (>9 Miles) because of her win in the Women’s 45-49 age group for the 10-mile National Championship in Lake Minnetonka in July 2014.

USMS Sports Medicine & Science Committee

In November 2017, Nugent was appointed as a volunteer (statistician) for the USMS Sports Medicine and Science Committee. This committee helps educate members and the public on topics of sports medicine and science, encourage research to Master Swimming.
