Maggie Fischer, namesake for the Maggie Fischer Memorial Great South Bay Cross Bay Swim, a 5.44-mile ocean swim in Brightwaters, New York

Maggie Fischer (1982 - 1999) was a 17-year-old pool and open water swimmer and and a senior at St. Anthony's High School before she passed away. She was one of the top students in her class, an accomplished member of the crew and swim teams, a great snow skier, a gifted flutist, and a dedicated lifeguard to the Saltaire community.

She was scheduled to compete in the Great South Bay Cross Bay Swim. In 1999 the swim was dedicated her memory and renamed the Maggie Fischer Memorial Great South Bay Cross Bay Swim, a 5.44-mile ocean swim in Brightwaters, New York.
