Laura Semonche Jones is an American pool and open water swimmer as well as a freelance writer living in Virginia.

She is working on a novel with a swimmer as the main character.

She is also a staff writer for U.S. Masters Swimming's SWIMMER Magazine.

Jones completed the first certified open water swimming crossing by a woman of the Vineyard Sound from Cape Cod to Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts. Together with her husband Rob Jones, she swam the 6.5 miles from Menauhant to Oak Bluffs (Nobska Point to West Chop) on 11 July 2012 in 3 hours 35 minutes despite multiple shark sightings off Chatham the previous week leading up to the unprecedented open water swim.
