Lake Mille Lacs

Lake Mille Lacs (also called Mille Lacs Lake or Mille Lacs) is a lake in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It is located in the counties of Mille Lacs, Aitkin and Crow Wing, roughly 100 miles north of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The name of Mille Lacs is French for "one thousand lakes".

  • It was crossed by Vincent Herring in 2003 in 14 hours 30 minutes at the age of 60.
  • Karen Zemlin has the first documented swim of Lake Mille Lacs by the MSF in June of 2019 at age 51 in 9 hours 55 minutes.
  • Tina Neill crossed Mille Lacs in 1998 at age 32 in 10 hours 35 minutes.
  • Roger Bosveld crossed Mille Lacs in July, 2007 at age 67. Karen Zemlin, Roger's daughter, made her first crossing with him on the same day at age 39 in an unofficial time of 9 hours 53 minutes.
