John Kenny is a former American professional marathon swimmer and professional triathlete. He was a multi-time member of the USA Swimming national open water swimming team who competed in several FINA World Swimming Championships in Japan, Canada, Spain and Italy. The Cornell graduate and licensed engineer currently runs a number of camps, clinics and open water swimming competitions for triathletes and adult swimmers as well as the 6-part French Creek Racing Upper Merion Open Water Swim Series on the Schuylkill River in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania.

High School and College[edit]

Kenny was a Pennsylvania state champion in high school swimming and all-district in cross country. He went on to run for one year in college, but continued to swim for all 4 years at Cornell University. At Cornell, he was a 4-time hardest worker and a 1-time MVP of the swim team.

Open Water Career[edit]

Triathlon Career[edit]

Beginning in 2005, Kenny began to race professionally as a triathlete. He has won many swim primes at major races such as 70.3 races and Lifetime Fitness races.

Race Organization[edit]

Kenny organizes the Upper Merion Open Water Swim Series on the Schuylkill River in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania, organized by French Creek Racing.
