Jennifer Brunelli

Jennifer Brunelli, MS RD LDN is the Director of Sports Nutrition at United States Performance Center and a former 7-time All-American pool swimmer. A sport nutritionist and a nutrition spokesperson, Brunelli owns Sports RDpro and advises a large number of athletes including Emily von Jentzen on her 70-mile marathon swim.

Swimming Career

Brunelli was National Champion runner-up in the 100 and 200 freestyles at the 2004 NCAA Division 1 Championships. She competed in the 2004 Olympic Trials in the 50, 100, and 200 meter freestyle. She still holds the 100 and 200y freestyle and multiple relay all time school records at the University of South Carolina.


Brunelli has worked on nutrition education, meal planning, and body assessments with many age-group athletes, masters athletes, collegiate teams, and professional athletes. Most recently she is consulting with the United States Performance Center in Charlotte where they work with athletes of all ages and abilities from the high school athlete to the corporate athlete to the professional athlete. She also consults with Carolinas Healthcare System and the Greater Charlotte YMCA system to provide sports nutrition consulting and clinical nutrition help through medical referrals.

She is also a nutrition spokesperson and wellness resource with NBC Charlotte news (WCNC) and has done pieces on specific brands of food, recovery nutrition, hydration, etc. Jennifer was named the Director of Sports Nutrition at NC State University in 2011 and worked with all teams- 700+ athletes for one year before resigning and helping to hire someone for the role in order to work closer to her family in Charlotte NC. Besides body composition analysis, meal planning, one-on-one and team counseling, she ran the training table at North Carolina State University which provided meals specifically tailored and only available to its athletes 5 nights a week. She previously worked with the San Francisco Giants Minor and Major League baseball teams during Spring Training 2009, for Athletes Performance Institute with many professional athletes and corporate clients, numerous age group, high school, collegiate, and masters athletes in sports including but not limited to swimming, basketball, gymnastics, soccer, track and field, and cross country. She opened Sports RDpro, LLC, a nutrition consulting business in the Charlotte area in July 2011. She also coaches the Cannon High School and masters swimming teams in Concord, North Carolina to continue to stay involved in the sport of swimming.
