Javier Gutierrez is an international pool swimmer and accomplished marathon swimmer originally from Mexico who is currently living in Marina del Rey, California and coached by Gerry Rodrigues.

He successfully completed the English Channel two times: in September 2011 in 9 hours 40 minutes and in August 1999 in 8 hours 16 minutes (fastest time of a Latin-American, fifth best time of an American and 25th overall), both certified by the Channel Swimming Association. Each of his successful English Channel crossing was preceded by failures: he was pulled out of the English Channel in 1998 and 2010.

He was second overall in the 2012 Manhattan Island Marathon Swim held on June 23, 2012, his official time was 7 hours 47 minutes (fastest time of a Mexican) . He also represented Mexico in multiple international meetings in the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle between 1982 and 1997, and achieve the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming with a crossing of the Catalina Channel in September 2013.
