Jammer

From Openwaterpedia
(Redirected from Jammers)

noun - A jammer is a style of swimsuit worn by male pool and open water swimmers. It is used in competition to obtain speed advantages. They are generally made of nylon and lycra/spandex material, but may be made of polyester, and have a form fitting design with carefully lock stitching technology to reduce water resistance. They provide moderate coverage from the mid-waist to the area above the knee, somewhat resembling cycling shorts or compression shorts worn by many athletes. They provide greater leg coverage than swim briefs and square leg suits, although they also have slightly more water resistance.

The jammers currently used by pool and open water swimmers are made of lightweight, water repellent fibers reduce friction drag with special compression panels that reduce muscle oscillation and skin vibration which reportedly promotes muscle oxygenation, enhances performance, and reduces fatigue.
