Noun – Intensity of Experience is the perceived level of physiological and psychological experiences that open water swimmers and triathletes face when swimming in an open body of water while facing the natural elements in a dynamic marine environment, whether swimming solo or in a crowded competitive environment of a race. It is one of the five core obstacles that open water swimmers and triathletes experience along with Solitary Adversity, Physical Exposure, Absence of Perception, and Survival Dependence.
