Hibiscus Coast

The Hibiscus Coast is a stretch of the Hauraki Gulf coast located in New Zealand's Auckland Region. It is the 10th largest urban area in New Zealand, and the second largest in the Auckland Region behind Auckland itself. The Hibiscus Coast runs north from the Whangaparaoa Peninsula through Orewa to Waiwera. It is made up of several small suburban residential and commercial areas such as Stanmore Bay, Arkles Bay, Army Bay, Manly, Orewa, Red Beach, Gulf Harbour, Silverdale, Tindalls Beach, Matakatia, Wade Heads and Hatfields Beach. The population was 52,400 as of June 2019.

Open Water Swimming[edit]

The Orewa Ocean Series is a weekly summer ocean swim beach series held weekly on Thursdays at the Orewa Surf Life Saving Club on the Hibiscus Coast. The Orewa Ocean Series is run by OSWIM which is the operational arm of Samoa Events with course distances from 250m to 2.5 km.
