Gran Fondo Naviglio Grande

The Gran Fondo Naviglio is a 24,5 km marathon swim in Milan, Lombardia (Italy), that is part of the 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 Gran Fondo Italia series (or Circuito Gran Fondo Italia), a race series marathon swimming in Italy organized by Alessandro Pilati of NAL - Nuoto in Acque Libere (Swimming in Open Water).

Course[edit]

The course stretches from Cassinetta to Milano Darsena, swimming in the Ticino water in favor of current in the artificial canal of the Naviglio Grande, designed by Leonardo Da Vinci. Cassinetta di Lugagnano is a comune in the Metropolitan City of Milan in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 20 km west of Milan. Cassinetta di Lugagnano borders the following municipalities: Corbetta, Robecco sul Naviglio, Albairate, and Abbiategrasso. The Milano Darsena is the harbor in Milan where the Naviglio Pavese and Naviglio Grande canals meet.
