Hybrid documentary Freedom Swimmer

Freedom Swimmer is a 15-minute documentary film about a man’s story of his perilous swim from China to Hong Kong during the Cultural Revolution, written and directed by Olivia Martin-McGuire. The hybrid, poetic documentary interweaves hand-drawn animation and film.

Olivia Martin-McGuire is an Australian documentary filmmaker/photographer based in Hong Kong. She has recently directed a feature film documentary, ChinaLove, for ABC Arts, which premiered at the Sydney Film Festival and internationally at DOCNYC, funded by Screen Australia.
