First International Open Ocean Swim

The First International Open Ocean Swim was a two-race event held in Huntington Beach and Seal Beach and across the Catalina Channel on 18-20 August 1984. The first coastal swim was between the piers of Huntington Beach and Seal Beach along a 16.09 km course on 18 August 1984. The 41.03 km Catalina Channel crossing started at the Isthmus Beach on Catalina Island to Cabrillo Beach on the Southern California mainland on 20 August 1984.
