Chris Martin is an American competitive swimming coach from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Coaching Career

  • one of America’s top swim coaches
  • head coach of the development program run by the Birmingham City Council, England for the City of Birmingham Club and Swimming Development Officer for Birmingham City Council
  • former head coach of the USA Swimming national swim team (women)
  • developed numerous Olympic, Pan Pacific Swimming Championships and Pan American Games gold medalists
  • former coach at the University of Florida where he won 11 straight wins at the SEC Championships and two top ten places in USA National Championships
  • head coach of the USA Pan Pacific Swimming Championships Team in 1995
  • assistant coach of the USA swim team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics where he coached Nelson Diebel to 100m breaststroke gold medal
  • produced two Olympic team members during his first appointment at the Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey where he also coached Wayne William Snellgrove, a national open water swimming champion
