Chris Hales co-founded Goggles for Guppies with his 12-year-old twin brother Matt Hales. The twins created a web-based clearinghouse to facilitate the donation of new and like-new goggles, caps, fins, kick boards, buoys, snorkels, suits, gear bags, and whatever can be useful to learn-to-swim programs for disadvantaged and special needs children from manufacturers, distributors, retailers and individual swimmers. The excess aquatic products inventory and outgrown equipment is donated to beneficiaries including the American Red Cross, Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA, and inner city programs throughout America.

Hales is a competitive age-group swimmer with the Mission Viejo Nadadores and a Junior Olympian. He and Matt witnessed first hand the plight of disadvantaged children during an international swim competition in Mexico that was their inspiration behind Goggles for Guppies.
