The Century Swim in the Gulf Stream is a 100 km non-stop current-assisted marathon swim by Pablo Fernández Álvarez that started off the eastern coast of Florida in the Gulf Stream near the city of Jupiter. The 12 hour 21 minute solo swim took advantage of the Gulf Stream that ran up to 7.1 km per hour.

  • He has swum between Alcatraz Island and Aquatic Park in San Francisco Bay.
  • He pioneered a 16.1 km solo crossing, called the Senegambia Open Water Challenge, along the coast from Plage d’Or in Barra, Senegal in at 7:22 am to Banjul, Gambia at 5:15 pm in 9 hours 54 minutes on 30 December 2017 at the age of 37 across the Gambia River Estuary.
  • He participated in the Great Shark Swim, a planned 100 km charity swim organised by Madswimmer in the Agulhas Current along the KwaZulu Natal Coast in South Africa. The team stopped after 28.24 km and 9 hours 3 minutes due to stings by blue bottles on 2 December 2017.
  • He swam 35 km from the U.S. Virgin Islands to Puerto Rico in an unprecedented solo swim.
  • He completed a neoprene crossing of the 14.4 km Strait of Gibraltar from Spain to Morocco on 14 September 2017 in 4 hours 58 minutes.
  • He completed the Escape from Alcatraz.
  • He competed in multiple 5 km and 10 km races in the Spanish Open Water National Championships.
  • His goal is to complete several charity open water swims around the world.
  • On 30 July 2019 in Jupiter, Florida in order to gain advantage of the currents of the Gulf Stream, he completed the fastest solo assisted 100 km (current-positive) swim in the world, called the Century Swim in the Gulf Stream, in 12 hours 21 minutes 14 seconds.
